French retailer "Auchan" develops stores of home appliances and electronics "Electrodiscount"  in Russia next to hypermarkets "Auchan".

The first one retailer's discounter store of home appliances and electronics by low prices was opened in Moscow in Altuf'evo in September 2012. Area of the store counts about 1,57 thousand square meters  having common entrance with hypermarket "Auchan".
Auchan has no clear plans for the development of the stores of "Электродисконт". They need at least a year to monitor sales, dynamics and profitability. If successful, then other shops  should be placed in Moscow. The format is also developing E-commerce on ediscont.ru with the whole range of products presented in the store - about 1200 names. The delivery is possible in Moscow and Moscow region only. The objective is to offer clients a wide choice of electrical goods at low prices. The total number of "Auchan" stores in 2012 amounted to 56 hypermarkets, which are located in 22 cities of Russia. In Moscow and Moscow area there are 26 shops: 14 of them are classical hypermarket "Auchan", 10 shops - "Auchan-city" and two stores of "Auchan Garden".

Trade Auchan group, one of the world's largest retail operators which occupies 12-th place in the world among food retailers, was created in 1961 by Gerard Mulie. The group includes more than 1300 stores, operating with 630 hypermarkets in 12 countries. The trade turnover of the group in 2011 up 4.4% - up to 44,37 billion Euros.  Auchan has been working on Russian market since 2002 and develops formats classical hypermarket "Auchan", hypermarkets "Auchan-city", "Auchan Garden" and hypermarket "Rainbow", as well as having the network of supermarkets of "Attacks".
