Raisins import to Russia
According to the «Market of raisins in Russia 2008 - 2012 and forecast up to 2020» research prepared by the company TEBIZ GROUP the leading suppliers of raisins in Russia are countries of the Middle East and South America.
The leader of deliveries in Russia in 2011 was Iran. The Russian trading partner delivered about 20 thousand tons of dried berries of grapes in 2012, which contains 44% of the total number of deliveries. The second place in suppliers' rating occupies Afghanistan with a share of 30.1 percent, and closes the top three leaders from Chile with respect to 10.5% of all imported raisins. The most expensive product in 2011 for Russia became raisins from Europe. So, the cost of one ton of the German raisins amounted to 5.47 per thousand dollars. Not much lower cost exhibited suppliers of dried fruits from Lithuania. Russian consumers are willing to pay inflated prices for the Baltic product (3,39 thousand dollars per ton), which is noticeably higher than average prices for imported raisins.
